Layi Ogunrinade, the pioneer chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State is dead.
He became PDP chairman at its formation in the state in 1998.
Ogunriade was said have died at his country home in Iragberi in the early hours of Tuesday.
Although the cause of his death were still unknown.
Ogunriade, had earlier this year celebrated his 80th birthday.
Confirming his death, the State Secretary of the party Prince Bola Ajao on Tuesday said the PDP would miss the elderly advice and wise counsel of the deceased.
He urged members and leaders of the party to ensure the legacies of service and simplicity of the late Ogunrinade were preserved.
