A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji AbdulAzeez Olayinka has predicted that Prince Dotun Babayemi will soon withdraw an appeal case pending before the Supreme court in Abuja.
Olayinka made the disclosure in an interview with Osundaily.
According to him, “The supreme court will not deliver judgement before the case will be settled out of court. I heard that the party leaders have been meeting to pacify the PDP aspirant to withdraw the case from the court.
“There is a proposal before a committee set up to settle the matter and when this proposal is met, the case will be settled out of court”.
Babayemi who is challenging the March 8, 2022 primary election that produced the candidate and governor-elect of the party, senator Ademola Adeleke.
The PDP chieftain stressed that Babayemi did not intend to truncate the success of the PDP in Osun, adding that he is a true member of PDP who worked for the success of Ademola Adeleke in the just concluded governorship election.
Olayinka dispell the news that Babayemi is being used by APC to truncate the victory of Ademola Adeleke in the state, saying Ademola Adeleke has been elected and there is no controversy about it.
Speaking on division in the party, Olayinka said there are two factions in PDP but worked together during the governorship election, “the election joined us together and no factions after election but we have not been holding meeting together and our leaders have not met to direct otherwise”.
“Some people still believed to have owned the party. We all owned PDP and we worked as one to elect senator Ademola Adeleke as Osun governor”, Olayinka declared.
The PDP chieftain opined that the PDP government will be workers’ friendly, noting that the government will develop all sectors of the economy in the state and bring life back to local government administration.
Reacting to former members of the party who defected to APC before the election, Olayinka said they will be received if they returned to the party,”we are waiting for them to return to the party as there is free exit and return in party politics.
He therefore urged people to support the incoming PDP government to enjoy dividends of democracy in the state.
