The wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs Titilola Adeleke, has urged women in the state to embrace farming as part of a measure to cushion the effects of the current hash economic realities.
Adeleke who spoke on Thursday in Osogbo at a meeting she organised to educate women in the state about the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, implored women to key into the initiative to enjoy maximum benefits.
According to her, engaging in agriculture at this critical time would go a long way in solving the nation’s economic challenges, malnutrition and unemployment.
She promised that the state government would assist anyone interested in farming, adding that more programmes aimed at improving the state’s agric sector would soon be unveiled.
She further said, “Women’s participation in agriculture should be promoted as this will go a long way in solving major economic challenges, malnutrition and unemployment.
“I want to urge our women to key into the Renewed Hope Initiative of the wife of the President, as it will boost our country’s food security, and empower our children.
“At this critical time when the nation is facing a lot, farming can serve as a source of income and revenue. Women are therefore enjoined to participate in agricultural development by cultivating available land around them. This will provide good meals needed for healthy growth.
“The state government under the leadership of Ademola Adeleke will do everything in assisting farmers in the state financially to improve the state agric sector.”
