The President, Osun State Police Command, Harmonised Vigilante Group Ile Ife chapter, Alhaji Isa Akorede, has declared that his group had reduced crime in the ancient town to the bearest minimum.
The president made this known in an interview with our correspondent in Ile Ife.
According to him, there is peace in Ile Ife now through our effort and the police. The criminal activities in the town have been curbed such as raping, kidnapping, armed robbery, etc.
“We had made several arrest and handed them to police for further investigation and prosecution. Ile-Ife is enjoying relative peace as criminals are afraid of engaging in criminal activities.”
He said that the group which is an indigenous vigilante group has achieved a lot in curbing crime in the ancient town.
Akorede described the relationship of his group with other vigilante groups in Ile Ife as cordial, noting that his group’s mode of operation is different from others because it is an indigenous group which has been in existence for over 20 years.
The president stressed that Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has been assisting the group in providing operational materials to further boost the operation of the group.
“Ooni and traditional chiefs have been constantly helping us in providing operational materials such as motor, financial assistance etc. Government has not been helping us but it may do in future”.

Most of our members are self-employed and therefore we don’t beg individuals for financial aids.”
Akorede, therefore, called on the residents of Osun to always report criminal activities in their environment to the group with a view to nib in the board act of criminality.
