The National Leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed its members to join the ongoing warning strike declared by Nigeria Labour Congress.
NLC had directed members to proceed on warning strike effective from today over failure of Federal Government of Nigeria to conclude on the new minimum wage.
An early text message sent by the Leadership of ASUU University of Ibadan today, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent directed its members to comply with the directive as the Union was party to the decision to go on strike.
The text reads thus “Comrades ASUU National has directed our members to join the strike action declared by NLC as ASUU was a party to the decision. Please comply and cooperate fully”
O reports CorrespondentOsun Daily reports that University of Ibadan chapter of ASUU has schedule the meeting of its leadership to later this afternoon to deliberate of action to ensure complaince with National directive.
The University of Ibadan recently resumed for the second semester of the 2017/2018 Academic Session.
With the ASUU’s decision to join the strike, academic activities and adminitrative activities will be disrupted in the country’s ivory towers.
