A philanthropist, Mrs. Olaide Adewumi, has disclosed plans to commence a poverty alleviation initiative through which food items would be given to the needy in Ila Orangun, Osun State and its environs.
Tagged “Ileri Oluwa Food Support” Adewumi said the food items would be given to all residents of Ila Orangun and its environ without discrimination.
According to her, the first edition of the initiative being planned to hold in few days, would also include disbursement of various sums of money to petty traders to support their business.
Asked specifically the motive behind the initiative, Adewumi, said she decided to embark on the programme to support the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, ex-governor, Chief Bisi Akande and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state in the task of providing for the basic needs of the vulnerable residents of Osun.

She further said, “this initiative is basically to support the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency, Adegboyega Oyetola, who is working hard to meet the needs of the vulnerable in Osun, who still look up to him not minding the fact that he is currently not the governor of the state.
“Mr Oyetola, Baba Bisi Akande and other leaders of APC need support of all of us because the responsibility they are carrying is huge. And if I can’t feed the entire state, at least, I should be able to assist Oyetola to partly cater, in my own little way, for the vulnerable people in Ila Orangun and its environ.
“He (Oyetola) is still carrying the heavier part of the responsibilities. Also, we will be giving petty traders various sums of money to improve their trade. No discrimination based on party or religion. All residents of Ila and its environ will benefit from the initiative meant to cushion the effects of harsh economy on our people.”
