Supporters of the immediate past governor of Osun State, Mr Gboyega Oyetola are left in an uncertain state after the party lost heavily during the general elections.
The supporters who were mostly in the Ileri Oluwa camp of the All Progressives Congress, were left disappointed at the result of the elections with majority already having a second thoughts, Osun Daily gathered.
The party after losing the July 16 gubernatorial election, lost the 3 Senatorial seats and the 9 House of Representatives to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The party also lost heavily to the PDP during the just concluded State Assembly election as it only won one out of the 26 seats.
Meanwhile, the only two-term governor of the state and current minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will be visiting the state on Tuesday.
Aregbesola, who will be commissioning the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ilesa Passport Production Centre, has not been involved in the politics of the state for over 3 years with many APC members believing his absence was the reason for the heavy defeat the party suffered in all the elections.
Osun Daily gathered that some of Oyetola’s supporters are planning to grace the minister’s occasion and pledged their full loyalty to him.
Speaking with the medium, one of the supporters who do not want his name in print, said the last elections have shown who the real leader of APC in Osun politics is.
He said Oyetola has demonstrated that he doesn’t have the capacity to deliver the party from its current state, urging the party leaders to bury their pride and reach out to Aregbesola.
According to him, “The last elections have shown us that Aregbesola is the true leader of APC in Osun and without him, the party is heading for extinction.
“It is very shameful that we lost all the national assembly seats and we are as good as losing all the state assembly also.
” Some of us in the Ileri Oluwa group are already planning to pledge our loyalty to the minister when he comes around and I want to appeal to our party leaders to also do the same.
“Look at what happened in Alimosho Local Government during the Presidential election when Aregbesola was not involved and the result when he was called upon during the governorship election”.
