The Oyo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Seyi Makinde, has been declared winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial and state House of Assembly poll.
Though the election has not been officially announced, Makinde has, however, been declared winner of 31 out of 33 Local Government Areas announced by the collation officers at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Ibadan.
The state Resident Electoral Commission, Tella Adeniran, has pleaded for a 30-minute break for proper declaration of the winner of the election.
Makinde, who was seeking re-election, on Saturday, contested against a three-term Senator, Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress and Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party, who was former deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The announcement of the results was monitored by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Tella Adeniran alongside the state returning officer, a professor from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Olusola Kehinde, and heads of security apparatus in the state.
