No fewer than 250 members of the Christ Apostolic Church, Anointing Chapel, Latona, Osogbo, Osun State, benefited from the free medical outreach organised by the medical team of the church.

The medical outreach which was held on Sunday at the church premises included; General Screening, Blood Pressure check, Malaria Parasite test, and Blood Sugar test.

Speaking during the event, the Pastor in charge of the English Assembly, Pastor Ezekiel Olowookere, noted that the gesture was a way of looking after the well-being of the church members.

He said every member must take cognizant of their health, urging them to always for go medical routine check-ups.

According to him, “As a church, we have our directive from the scriptures and we are being guided by it. As a people, the lord Almighty is interested in our well-being. So, we believe that it is also important for us as a church to look after the health of our members.

“250 people benefitted from this medical outreach and we are appealing to them to make use of whatever information they got from the medical personnel that attended to them.

“We have to be mindful of our health and I’m using this opportunity to appeal to the church members to be self-conscious of their well-being. The time is a little bit tough but we should take our health seriously.”

One of the members of the medical team of the church, Dr Bankole Oludotun, said the beneficiaries and members of the church at large were lectured on some common diseases, the importance of medical checks and routine exercise.

He said, “As a church, we look at it that it would be a very good thing if we feed our people spiritually and medically. So, the medical team of the church decided to organise a medical outreach for our members and the people around us.

“This morning, we gave a lecture on ‘You and Your Health’ where we talked about common diseases, the importance of medical checks and routine exercise. Also, we conduct medical tests for the beneficiaries.

“After this, we have a referral approach also where anyone who needed further treatment is sent to the secondary or tertiary facilities.”

Another member of the church medical team, Mrs Bukola Oyelere, said, “We feel as we are taking care of our soul, we should also take good care of our body for us to remain in good health. People get tested and receive counsel on how to take good care of themselves.”

One of the beneficiaries, Elder Professor Abayomi Akomolafe, while appreciating the church for the gesture, urged the church members to make their health a priority.

“We’ve been having many such programmes before in our church but this one is better. There are enough personnel to take care of the beneficiaries and achieve the objectives of the church.

“Health is wealth and the programme will go a long way to help members of the church. I want to implore all our members in and outside the church to take care of their health,” he noted.
