Women (clients) on Family Planning subscriptions have called on those having doubt about FP to stop entertaining fear.
The clients’ who spoke to the Family Planning media team of the Development Communication (DevComs) Network on Thursday at Oke Baale Primary Health Care Facility, said they have been living happily since they subscribed to the program.
Speaking with the media team, a client who identified herself as Mrs Toyosi Durotoye, 41, noted that she was at the facility to subscribe to another FP program after the 5 years she was on expired.
Mrs Durotoye said she had no health issues since she subscribed to FP more than five years ago, adding that her husband was the one who encouraged her to go for another round.
She said, “I had my family planning five years ago and since then, I’ve been living happily and I have no health complications.
“I’m here this morning to the one I’m currently on to do another one. When I wanted to subscribe to Family Planning, some people were telling me not to but I didn’t listen to them and I’m happy I followed my heart.
“My advice to those who are yet to subscribe to Family Planning is to try it. It is for our own good. It gives women the opportunity to enjoy their families and enables us to take good care of our children.
“My husband is happy with me having the Family Planning. He was even the one who reminded me that the one I’m currently on is five years already and that I should go and do a new one.”
Another client, Mrs Yetunde Adigun, said she gave birth easily after subscribing to Family Planning.
The woman who was also on the five-year FP type, said she removed the injectable after two and half years when she intended to have another child, adding that she got pregnant the same month and delivered without any issue.
According to her, “I subscribe to that of five years and I’m back here to do another one because that one has expired.
“Although when I first had it then, I lost a lot of blood but when I went back to the facility, I was given drugs to use and after taking it, everything was back to normal.
“The one I did back then, after two and half years, I went back to remove it because I intend to have another child and I can tell you that after removing it, I got pregnant that month and I delivered safely after nine months.”
Alhaja Suliyat Omolaja, the Family Planning Coordinator, Oke Baale Primary Health Centre, said more women are now subscribing to the program, urging those who are yet to do so to come forward.
“The rate at which people are coming for Family Planning has increased a lot and people are now seeing the reason why they should key into the program.
“The economic situation in the country is also a factor that is making people come forward for Family Planning and I want to encourage those who are still doubting Family Planning not to have any fear, there is no cause for alarm,” she said.
