Niyi Akande, Osogbo.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state and the runner up in the party’s primaries, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi during the weekend declared support for the party’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Before now, there were fears Ogunbiyi may dump PDP, following post primary unrest that rocked the party.
However, after the intervention of the National Campaign Committee of the party, led by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the issues between the two politicians were eventually laid to rest.
Hosting Adeleke and his team in his Ile Ogbo country home last Friday, Ogunbiyi had invited many of his supporters across the state to brief them on the outcome of the Abuja reconciliation meeting.
But midway into the meeting, Senator Demola Adeleke arrived with his entourage.
Receiving the party standard bearer at his residence, Ogunbiyi noted that Ademola’s victory is PDP’s victory.
Dr. Ogunbiyi encouraged his supporters to vote for the PDP in the coming election noting that the march for a better Osun and Nigeria had begun.
In his response, Senator Ademola thanked Dr. Ogunbiyi for his magnanimity and resolve to bury the past in the interest of the party and Osun people. He promised to do everything to keep the party united as they march to victory
Also, the state chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo showered encomium on the leaders, especially Dr. Ogunbiyi for putting the interest of the party first.
“I thank God and the leadership of the PDP. I am grateful to all women and youths in the party for your love, support and cooperation,” Ogunbiyi remarked.
