A senior lecturer of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Dr. Oluwole Daramola has emerged as the newly elected chairman of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Osun State Chapter.
Oluwole Daramola is a seasoned scholar at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning whose research interest centres on sustainable urban environmental behaviour with over forty publications in both local and international journals.
He was elected unopposed having served as the General Secretary in the outgone executive with a sterling performance at Moremi Event Hall, besides Finance building, Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, the state capital.
The NITP is Nigeria’s leading planning body for spatial, sustainable, integrative and inclusive planning. The NITP exists to advance the science and art of planning for the benefit of the public.
In his acceptance address, the new NITP Chairman, appreciated all past chairmen, elders and all members of the institute for their love and confidence which they demonstrated in selecting him as the 12th Chairman and by extension electing his team members into various posts.
In his words, Daramola said, ” I am humbled for the faith and trust that you repose in me. This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I will endeavour to function in this new capacity you have bestowed on me with the utmost interest of our Chapter and the Institute in general by the grace of God”
“My desire is to achieve a greater and stronger Osun NITP. I am very sure with the help of God and the support of every one of us, this desire will be an achievement for all of us to witness. I do not forget all the promise I made when I publicly declared my intention to contest as the Chairman of this great chapter on 9th of January, 2020”
“You have now given me the opportunity and I know that a focus on these four cardinal issues will address all areas of our interests that may manifest as projects, programmes, and activities required for greater and stronger Osun NITP”
“I crave for your continuous unflinching support in steering the wheel of Osun NITP into a destination of success. I pray that as we depart from here today, the good Lord will keep and bless us individually and collectively”
The new chairman declared that he is ready to facilitate the participation of all required stakeholders, especially the government, in making all electoral promises a reality.
