The Osun state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr Sunday Bisi has said he remains the elected chairman of the party, dismissing his purported removal by a ‘stakeholders’ forum’.
Bisi said the forum lacks legal powers or mandate to remove or tamper with the elected structures of the party.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the Taminu-Turaki-led faction of the PDP recently announced the dissolution of the Bisi-led leadership and replaced it with a caretaker committee.
However, the State Working Committee of the PDP led by Bisi rejected its dissolution, saying the executives remain the ones recognised by the constitution of the party.

But speaking during the stakeholders meeting on Thursday which had in attendance the former governor of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the caretaker chairman, Tunde Tijani, said the PDP now has a new leadership in the state.
Responding, Bisi in a statement on Thursday, said, “I remain the chairman and as the PDP has no candidate for the August gubernatorial election, the party has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election.”
The PDP chairman said the party has no candidate in the forthcoming August 08 gubernatorial election adding that “That is the fact of the situation as the public is aware of the leadership crisis within the PDP. Our elected officials minus the governor and the deputy governor remain in PDP. We have accordingly endorsed Governor Adeleke.”
“Anybody saying anything else belongs to the small group who did not vote for Governor Adeleke during the 2022 gubernatorial polls. The mainstream of the PDP covering all our local and ward structures supports our leadership and the direction we took to endorse the governor”, the party chairman said.
