Low turnout characterised the just concluded gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections in Oyo State.
Our Reporter, Ridwan Kolawole, reports that there were cases of low turn out in Ibadan, the state capital, Oyo and Ogbomoso.
The development led to the call by major players to call on the electorate to come out and vote.
Candidates of All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, PDP counterparts, Engineer Seyi Makinde and National Interest Party, Mrs Bolanle Sarumi-Aliu lauded the efforts of INEC and the conduct of the electorate by maintaining orderliness when the voting lasted.
In Ibadan, where the major political parties, APC and PDP, have their candidates, there were consistent calls by Chief Adelabu and Engineer Makinde and former Governor Rashidi Ladoja calling on the electorate to turn oh to vote.
Adelabu voted at his Kudeti compound in Ibadan and declared that with the efforts of INEC, it would be dificult tomanipulate the result of the election.
Engineer Seyi Makinde who voted 008, Ward 11, in Ona Ara local government called on the security operatives to step up their game in providing security in areas like Egbeda local government where political thugs are being reported to be intimidating voters.
In Ogbomoso, Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala expressd satisfaction over the conduct of the election and lauded the people of Ogbomoso for their peaceful conduct which has been part of them.
Speaking with journalists, Senator Fatai Buhari who was re-elected for the second time two weeks ago was optimistic of the victory at the poll.
The chairman, house of Representatives committee on Information, Orientation and ethics, Honourable Segun Odebunmi who represents Surukere and Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency posited that his party will come victorious in the poll.
