The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun on Thursday warned motorists against dangerous driving in order to reduce to the barest minimum accidents prevalent during the ember months.
The Zonal Commanding Officer representing Oyo, Osun, and Ondo , Mr Godwin Ogagaghene , who spoke to newsmen in Osogbo during the flflagged off its Ember Months Campaign said road safety was a thing of the mind which every stakeholders must have at heart.
Ogagaghene said,” It is the attitude of the road users and their state of mind that determine what they do on the road , and the need to be safety conscious should be Paramount.
” Before any driver would embarked on any journey he or she must ensure that his or her vehicle is in a good condition.
” He must avoid anything capable of resulting to accidents and later lead to death or severe injuries” he said.
He enjoined , road users under emotional stress, drunk or serious drugs not drive.
The Zonal Commander commended stakeholders for their support and concerted efforts towards ensuring that states under his watch were free from accidents .
” We want to thank one of our key stakeholders who are the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and others for supporting us.
” Safety is a shared responsibility which everyone must note and the message of safety conscious must to pass to the next road users besides you,” Ogagaghene said.
The Sector Commander in Osun, Mr Peter Oke, described the ember months as a period where they are heavy traffic and more road users .
Oke noted that the bad attitude of most drivers had led to the untimely death of many innocent people.
He cautioned road users and also charged them to always obey the road traffic regulations.
