Barring any last minute cancellation or postponement, boys at the popular Egbatedo area, Osogbo, will hold their annual carnival on January 19, Osun Daily gathered.
Popular Fuji musician, Remi Aluko is expected to be on stage that day.
The situation, the medium gathered has put the state Police Force and Department of State Services on red alert.
The fear of the security operative according to a police officer who preferred anonymity because he was not authorized to talk was that the carnival might lead to the breakdown of law and order.
It would be recalled that the police banned street carnivals during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state, saying anyone caught or found wanting will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
A source in the area told the medium that the ban by the police was what informed the January 19 date, adding that the organizers believed it is a far date from the New year.
The medium also gathered that some prominent people in the area were meeting with the security leadership to assure them of a peaceful carnival.
