The former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Segun Adeyeni has declared that the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has directed all members of The Osun Progressives (TOP), a splinter group in APC to vote for governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.
Adeyeni made this known at a rally organized by the Ife-East chapter of the party for the re-election of the Governor in Ile Ife.
According to him, “Aregbesola is with APC in Osun and a meeting was held in Aregbesola’s campaign house recently where he directed all his followers to vote for APC in the July 16 Governorship election”.
‘No crack in APC now and all gree areas have been resolved so that APC will win the election. TOP has collapsed in the main party, APC. The rift between Aregbesola and Oyetola is personal, and not political one which will not affect the party. It is their supporters that spread the rift.
“Some TOP members who are defecting to the opposition party are inconsequential. Barrister Kolapo Alimi who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party is not relevant in the group who nearly lost his unit during 2018 governorship election”.
The former council Chairman said APC is a party of principled and law abiding people, who do not believe in vote buying syndrome before getting to power. Vote-buying is allien to our electoral system and is evil”.
“APC does not believe in vote-buying but we go to grassroots to campaign, sell our manifestos to people. This is the trademark of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to buy vote which they exhibited during the last election.
“We don’t need to buy vote before winning election. APC believes in one man, one vote. The performance of APC government in the state is credible and achievements of the Governor in the last three years will speak for him in the July 16 election.
“I am confident that Osun people are not ingrate, they will vote for the Governor massively because he is a man of the people. The people of Ile Ife have been showing signs of love to us in everywhere we go during campaign, they received us well and showed enthusiasm”.
Speaking on palpable fear before, during and after the election, Adeyeni said security agents will ensure that there is no crisis and maintain peace and order, stressing that any individual who tries to forment crisis will be made to face the music of the law.
