A resident of zone 3, Oke-Arungbo estate, Osogbo, Osun State capital, Mr Adeoye M.A. has sought forgiveness from members of the community and the general public for raising a false robbery alarm.
Adeoye had in a letter sent to members of the community, said some suspected armed robbers were planning to rob the community, telling them to be vigilant.
A copy of the letter obtained by the medium reads: “Robers wrote a letter to the Zone on their intention to come and rob here; All Land Lords and Tenants are now advised seriously to be very watchful in their environment, to be able to spot strange faces in order to alert his/her neighbours immediately for the members attention and arrest of the strange/ unwanted persons.
“Each person in the Zone (Land Lord or Tenant) is expected to have a functional whistle or Biggle to be blown for the attention of all members of zone 3 and community at large during emergency;
“In view of the above mentioned emergency points, Zone 3 has decided, a: To-add a strength to it former watchmen (Both night & Day); b. Collect all outstanding debts of both Security and Welfare Fees from each household (N1,000 per month) immediately; c: Any house still owing these fees by the end of July, 2023 will be disconnected from the Community Light (Electricity) and be reported to the police as saboteurs in our environment.
“In the light of all these, an emergency meeting had been decided to hold on Saturday, 22nd of July, 2023 by 8am at the same venue (the zonal chairman’s House, No 39, Zone 3) to fine tune all the emerging intending security risks.”
OsunDaily gathered that the letter has thrown members of the community into fear.
Adeoye appealed to residents of the community for raising a false alarm, promising to be on his best behaviour going forward.
