Elegbedi of Egbedi in Osun state, Oba Abdulazeez Olaniyi, has accused a businessman, Mr. Abiodun Oladapo, of invading his farm with armed thugs, who destroyed it.
Oba Olaniyi while speaking to the medium on how the incident happened, explained that about one month back, he cleared a parcel of land measuring about 20 acres in his town, and planted maize on it.
While the machine was working on the farm, Oba Olaniyi alleged that Oladapo attempted to stop the work and brought some thugs to the farm, but the attempt was thwarted by the labourers, who resisted the thugs and told the invaders to meet the monarch and discuss.
He further stressed that he owns the land and he has not sold it to anyone including Oladapo, who according to him, was also laying claim to it.
He further explained that Oladapo had already petitioned Iwo Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, adding that his representatives had appeared before the Area Commander on the issue.
He contended, “few days ago, I was informed that some armed thugs had stormed my land and destroyed what I had planted there. So I called the police. Those that perpetrated the act are working for Oladapo. Police should intervene and stop this illegal act.”
But when contacted on Sunday, Oladapo, who tendered an order of Osun State High Court, sitting in Ede, dated 30th January, 2020, restraining trespassing on a parcel of land located at Iloba and Olasope villages, said the land Oba Olaniyi claimed belonged to him was already a subject of litigation and that the court order that gave him possession of the land had not been quashed.
Oladapo, who insisted the parcel of land belonged to him, also said the royal father failed to appear in person before Iwo Area Commander, after he had petitioned the police to report the encroachment.
