As parts of effort to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal in the country, the Chairman of Atakunmosa West Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Dada Ajibola
has commenced distribution of food palliative worth N4.2m to residents of the council area.
The beneficiaries of the palliatives, who were drawn from across the seven political wards of the
local government, were given a bag of 4kg semolina christened Ajibola Semolina as a gift in the
spirit of the Ramadan season.
Speaking with journalists during the flag-off ceremony at the council secretariat in Osu on
Friday, Hon. Ajibola expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to give back to society in the
trying times.
A statement by the council Director of information, Sunday Taiwo, note the the chairman reiterated his commitment to bringing dividends of democracy to the people of
the council area and serving them to the best of his abilities, with an emphasis on an open-door
policy to enhance the well-being of the council residents.
The statement stated that the palliative program was a crucial social investment initiative by Ajibola’s
administration, aimed at alleviating the hardship and economic challenges being faced by the
people of the council area, adding that his administration was rolling out over 800 bags of 4kg
Semolina for council residents and council workers in the first phase of the distribution.
“I thank God for this wonderful opportunity. With this palliative, our people will get succour
considering the prevailing hardship in the country generally. As a government at the local level,
we are thinking outside the box to cater for our people. As you can see, beneficiaries were drawn
from 7 political wards of the council with each ward getting 70 bags in this first phase. Besides,
my staff in the council are not left out; they are also getting Semo Ajibola. And we shall intensify
efforts to touch the lives of our people within the limits of available resources.”
He however called on party leaders and stakeholders in the 7 wards and communities to ensure a
seamless and efficient distribution process, warning against any attempts to sabotage or divert
the palliative.
In their separate remarks at the ceremony, PDP party chairman in the local government, Hon.
Sesan Farodoye and the Chairman, NULGE in the council, Comrade Olaosebikan Olusola lauded
the local government’s initiative in providing food donation to the people to celebrate Eid al- Fitr
and pledged full cooperation in the distribution process. They urged the people to continue theirsupport for the administrations of Hon. Ajibola Dada in the local government and Senator
Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in the state.
Present at the ceremony were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Wole Oni, Secretary to the Local
Government, Barr. Sayo Ajewole, other members of the council’s Caretaker Management
Committee, PDP Chairman in the local government, Hon. Sesan Farodoye, Ward party chairmen
from the 7 wards in the local government, other party leaders, religious leaders, women leaders
and council staff led by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Kehinde Olayinka,
