.As parties dangle senatorial ticket before ex Customs boss

Plot to stop 2015 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Osun East, Prince Francis Adenigba Fadahunshi from getting the party’s ticket for the same position ahead of 2019 general election is being hatched by a section of the party, Osun Daily reports.
Prince Fadahunshi from Ilashe, a town in Obokun local government area of the state, ran for the same position in 2015 and narrowly lost to All Progressives Congress (APC’s) Babajide Omoworare.
Fadahunshi, according to sources in the know of the plot, may be prevented from getting the party’s ticket because some people in the Senatorial District felt he supported the governorship ambition of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke against their wish.
A source in the know told Osun Daily that: ‘Baba Fada’ used to be a respected figure in Ijesha caucus of thePDP until he chose to support Senator Adeleke.”
He continued: “Many leading figures in Ilesha Caucus of the party felt Fadahunshi did not consult them before pitching tent with Adeleke and may have decided to stop his ambition to pick PDP senatorial ticket.
“Many of those behind the plot know Fadahunshi can win, if given the ticket, but they may have resolved to hand the ticket to someone else.”
Meanwhile, as many as five political parties, may have approached the retired Assistant Comproller General of Customs, to get him to accept contesting for Osun East Senatorial election on their platforms.
Though all Fadahunshi’s aides contacted for comments, preferred not to be quoted, but one of them, a community leader said: “Yes! As many as 5 are talking to us. Fadahunshi is not new to the intrigues of party politics.
“The people he intends to represent know what he can do. He has rich history of philantrophy. If PDP fails to give him the Senatorial ticket, a big party that is already in power is looking at him,” the source said.
Asked if the party is APC, he simply replied “I have said too much. Thanks.”
