…Mocks APC for getting the beating of their life at last Saturday’s election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Osun State, on Monday, berated the opposition All Progressives Congress, for alleging that it deployed thugs to intimidate and harass voters during last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The party while reacting to APC’s claim, said the election was held under a very peaceful atmosphere, adding that the results declared reflected the collective will of the Osun people.
APC during a press conference in Osogbo on Monday, vowed to approach the court to challenge the outcome of the election result, claiming the state was under siege by PDP-sponsored thugs during the election.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Oladele Bamiji, the PDP Media Director in Osun, advised the APC not to make the mistake of making the court appeared as if it is a department in their party.
He said: “I don’t know whether there is any credence to such a claim that thugs were moving around the state, even with the presence of security everywhere.
“It never happened anywhere. I wouldn’t know where such an allegation is coming from as far as I am concerned. They are just beating about the bush.
“In my unit, we were all together with the APC and we didn’t have any issues. Elections bring people together. For me, I never heard any report of thuggery anywhere.
“Nothing of such. The election was held under a very peaceful atmosphere and the results declared reflected the collective will of the Osun people.
“They are threatening court cases again. That was part of what got people annoyed, especially, after the governorship election where people felt that they were the ones who elected governor Ademola Adeleke.
“The residents see APC as a bunch of people who want to steal their collective will through the backdoor. That was what infuriated the electorate in last Saturday’s elections and that is why they got the beating of their life.
“They should not begin to make the mistake of making the court appeared as if it is a department in APC. The court is for all Nigerians regardless of class, status, and political affiliation.
“Wherever they want to go, we will meet them there. Anybody condemning what happened on Saturday is just messing around”.
