All Progressives Congress, APC, held its governorship primary across the 332 wards in Osun State, Saturday, 19th February 2022 which members of the party described as peaceful, free, and fair.
In Ile Ife, where our correspondent monitored the exercise in various wards, saw members of the party conducted themselves peacefully as members of the party cast their votes unintimidated.
In an interview with Mr. Wahab Adefioye, the chairman, Ilode ward II, described the Saturday APC primary as the best primary election ever held in the history of the party.
“This is the best primary election, no single violence recorded in Ile Ife. We had been warned by our leaders to shun violence.
The election is peaceful, credible as there no harassment of members. Today, we did not differentiate between members of TOP and ILERIOLUWA groups as we all APC members”.
The APC ward chairman noted that members of TOP voted for Governor Oyetola in the party primary, stressing that the party is one.
He, therefore, called on members of the party to come together in the interest of the party ahead of the July governorship election in the state.
Also, a stalwart of APC in Ife-East, Alhaji Dauda Akinwole said the primary election was free of acrimony and violence in Ile Ife. He opined that governor Oyetola is the sole candidate of the party.
Dauda, who is a board member of the Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, said,” the exercise was peaceful, no record of break down of law and order, the security agents were on ground to ensure peaceful exercise”.
He stressed that governor Oyetola has done well and deserved to be returned.
Honorable Fabeku Babatunde also described the party primary as the best exercise which showed the significance and strength of the party members to choose their leader.
“We loved the governor and we showed our love to him today as party members. TOP members are not visible in Ile Ife and we all came out en mass to vote Oyetola to continue his good works in the state”.
