The first set of security agents that will be on duty for the September 22 governorship poll in Osun state has arrived Osogbo, Osun state capital, Osun Daily can authoritatively reports.
Exclusive Information available to our correspondent indicates that the first batch of security agents that will work during Osun election drawn mainly from the Department of State Security (DSS) arrived the state Sunday afternoon.
Multiple security sources contacted not only confirmed arrival in the state of several operatives of DSS, but also added that many more will arrive the state in the coming days.
It would be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, during a security summit ahead of Osun poll, recently in Osogbo, said each of the 9 Federal Constitutencies in the state would be headed by a Commissioner of Police during the poll.
Also, thousands of other security agents like Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Nigerian Prison Service (NPS), and Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) would be on duty during the election.
One of the security sources who spoke under condition of anonymity, said “all we are after is successful poll. We are committed to it. We want to ensure we keep the state very safe. Politicians are raising the tension bit by bit.
“We hope this gradual rise in tension would be contained. There will be more deployment. The first batch only arrived today, as we have been told.”
