The international association of Lions Clubs Osogbo Metropolis, district 404B-2, Yesterday installed Lion Solabomi Akinsola as the 10th president.
Solabomi took over from Lion Olajumoke Lawal who was the first female president of the club and ruled between 2018 and 2019.
Speaking, the district governor , Wesley Kufudiya advised the new president to key into the global goals of the lions club.
He added that doing this the set target of helping more than 200 million people in the world every year will be a reality.
Lion Wesley also advised her to take up a new project that serves the pressing need in her district.
He said, ” I want her to lead by example. She should be more aggressive about bringing in additional members to strengthen the club for more impactful service.
“She must also key into 5 focus area of the club which are: diabetes, vision, environment, cancer and the youths.
“She must also find a project of pressing need to the society and deliver them to solve same. That is what the lions club is all about. As long as there is a need, lions club will always have a role to play .”
In her acceptance speech, the president promised to meet up with the responsibilities that comes with her office.
She stated that she has mapped out a lot of projects which she hope to complete before the expiration of her term in office.
She said, ” we have a lot of projects to we have penciled down. I hope to complete them with the support of people before I leave office. Part of which are to build convinces at the maternity and out patient wards of the state specialist hospital, Asubiaro.
” I have also went round some schools and discovered that there food vendors have no shelter we hope to provide them with one and we would start with Laro grammar school “
