The receptionist on duty at Hilton Hotels when late Timothy Adegoke, a Masters Student of Obafemi Awolowo University logged at the facility, Adesola Adedeji, on Friday, told a State High Court sitting in Osogbo that the account she submitted when she wanted to leave the hotel on the 6th of November 2021, was tampered with.
She also said the son of the owner of the hotel, Prince Raheem Adedoyin, gave her a blank receipt to fill in substitution for a name, adding that she only new about Adegoke’s death when she got to the police station after her arrest.
According to her, the original receipt she submitted to the hotel auditor had 16 lodged guests in the hotel with the late Adegoke’s name in number one.
She however said the one given to her at the station had only 15 lodged guests and was not in her handwriting, adding that she requested for her phone where she had the original account when she noticed the difference.
Adedeji further told the court that she showed the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case her phone and told him about the differences in the two accounts.
When asked during cross examination by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, if Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin and his son came to the hotel the day Adegoke lodged there, the defendant said the duo where at the hotel that day, adding that she was aware when Dr. Adedoyin left the hotel but didn’t know when his son left.
The defendant also said the name given to her to be filled on the blank receipt by Raheem Adedoyin was not among the guests lodged during her duty period.
On the hotel CCTV, Adedeji said she noticed upon resumption back to the hotel on the 9th of November that the CCTV camera was not in place anymore.
The Osun Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, before the case was adjourned till Thursday, February 2, 2023, for the continuation of hearing, told Adedoyin’s counsel, K. Eleja, SAN, to ensure that his witnesses attended the next court sitting.
