Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, has commended Osun state government for appointing Mrs. Adejumoke Akinjiola as the acting Director General of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).
Mrs. Akinjiola, a former Vice Chairman of the council, emerged the acting DG of the station after retirement of Mr. Wale Idowu.
The union, in a statement jointly signed, Tuesday, by the acting chairman of the council and the secretary, Kehinde Ayantunji and Boladale Bamigbola, stated that the appointment of Akinjiola signposted the resolve of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola-led to re-position the station in line with modern trend in broadcast journalism.
The statement reads: “The task to re-position OSBC could not have been given to any other person, but to an A-list, time tested broadcast journalist and media manager in the mould of Akinjiola.”
“Over the years, Akinjiola has proven capacity to lead a lively media set up with a blend of experience hands and youth like OSBC, and the result of the bold step to reward competence by the committee that appointed her, would soon positively rub off on the station.”
“Also, the appointment of Akinjiola is a further confirmation of the belief by Aregbesola’s administration in the ability of professionals in the state to man critical organ of government.”
The NUJ also assured the new OSBC boss of maximum corporation of members of the union to enable her discharge her duties without hitch, and expressed absolute trust and confidence in her ability to deliver.
