Youths in Modakeke on Wednesday protested against the installation of 92-year-old, Moses Oladejo Oyediran, as new Ogunsua of Modakeke, Osun state.
Oyediran who hails from Ajombadi Compound in Modakeke, was installed on December 27, 2018.
It was gathered that he would be presented a staff office by the state government on Thursday October 17.
The Immediate past Ogunsua , Oba Francis Adedoyin , from Olaogbin Ruling House joined his ancestors on August 4 , 2018 , at the age of 96 .
However, the youths of the town gathered at Ita-Merin, near Ogunsua palace, Modakeke-Ife amid songs to register their disdain at the age of their new king.
Speaking with Newsmen, Tunde Olasiyan, the Youths Leader in the community said the chosen king, Oyediran, is aged and they would not mind if his son was appointed
Olasiyan stated further other neighbouring towns such as: Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba land, Iwo and Ipetumodu, Ife North local government among others have young kings
He said, ” We are not protesting that the king should be taken from another royal family, we maintain our stand that youth from Ajombadi royal family should be selected and staff of office should be given to the person.
“We the youths have spoken with the chosen aged monarch to step down for any of his sons for peace to reign in the town. With his age there is limit to what he can do”
