Twenty – two – year – old Mathew Adetunji has been dragged before an Osun Magistrates ’ Court sitting in Ile – Ife for allegedly stealing of a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to a woman, Risikat Adegoke .
The accused allegedly stole the motorcylce in Modakeke, the headquarters of the Ife East Area Office , Osun State.
The police prosecutor , Inspector Ona Glory, explained that the accused committed the offence on December 14 , 2018 , in the Itamerin area of Modakeke.
Glory added that the accused stole a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with number plate FKJ 531 QJ ; chassis No : MD 2 A18 AY 3 JWB 89078 , and engine No : DUZWJB 89184 , valued at N286 , 000 , property of Risikat Adegoke .
According to him , the offence contravenes sections 383 and 390 ( 10 ) ( a ) of the Criminal Code , Laws of Osun State , 2003 .
The accused had no legal representation , but pleaded not guilty to the one count of stealing .
Despite asking for bail, Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji refused him bail and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.
The accused was remanded in the Ile -Ife Prison till January 7 , 2019 , when the matter will come up for hearing.
