A 45-year-old man, Olumide Ajakaiye, was on Thursday arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate court for allegedly injuring a staff of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
Ajakaiye, according to the charge sheet obtained by Osun Daily, committed the offence on March 29, 2023, at about 1030hrs at Ayekale area, Osogbo.
He was said to have assaulted one Kazeem Sulaiman, a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Osogbo with a cutlass and inflicted injury on his left leg.
The charge sheet reads: “That you Olumide Ajakaiye on the 29th day of March 2023 at about 1030hrs at Ayekale Area, Osogbo in the Osogbo Magistrate District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 249(D) of the Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
“That you Olumide Ajakaiye on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magistrate District did ASSAULT one Kazeem Sulaiman ‘M’ a staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Osogbo with a cutlass and inflicted injury on his left leg and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002”.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the two counts of breach of peace and assault.
The defendant was given bail in the sum of a hundred thousand with one surety by Magistrate O.A Odeleye.
The case was adjourned to April 12, 2023, for hearing.
