The Regional Communication Officer, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Osun Region, Kikelomo Owoeye on a personal mission to serve the society, has charged the younger generation of Nigerians to adhere to high moral standard, so as to secure the future of the country.
Owoeye said this at Abiye Orphanage, Oshogbo, Osun state, during her Independence Day celebration visit to the orphanage home.
Exhorting the children, Kikelomo added, “you might think you are too young to contribute to the development of Nigeria, but I tell you that change starts with you.”
“This is where the true freedom comes from as Independence starts from your mind. If your mind, body and soul are not ready for it you will continue to live in its nomenclature and celebrate it without being free in the real sense.”
Referring to the gifts given to the children she noted that, “You might look at this token as a school bag, it signifies the tool to unlock ur freedom. Each time u see it, I want u to remember that education is key. When u see your toothbrush you should remember you have to get up each day to start up anew, freshen up to be clean inside out and reflect truth, holiness and cleanliness that is your personal hygiene. So, the bag and the brush talks about ur state of mind, knowledge and personality who you are.”
She urged the children to strive to maintain clean appearances, guard their heart and keep their records clean, stressing: “If you are clean you will be bold, and you’ll know what you require in life to be truly free. Your independence does not depend on anyone or what the society dictates. Believe in yourself and with God you can reach great heights in life.”
She donated school bags, tooth brushes and edibles to the children to celebrate the day as a way to encourage them and other people to always give back to the society no matter how small.
