The ongoing dualisation of Old Garage – Lameco junction by the Osun State Government is facing delay due to the strike by the Judiciary staff
workers in the state.
Osun Daily gathered that the work is being hindered because the fence of the High Court, which will be slightly affected can’t be pulled down without a valid court order.
Due to the closure of the courtrooms, orders can’t be gotten for the project to continue.
Osun Daily during a visit, observed that other parts of the road along the Osogbo-Ilobu corridor have been cleared except the High Court Osogbo part.
Sources said the state government is working round the clock to resolve the impasse and reopen the courts as soon as possible.
Part of the measures was a resolution agreement signed by the state government and parties in the strike on Monday.
It would be recalled that Osun JUSUN, under its former chairman, Gbenga Eludire, had since November 22, 2023, declared an indefinite strike, leading to the paralysis of judicial activities in the state.
Eludire directed the Osun court workers to proceed on strike after policemen on November 22 teargassed JUSUN members, who had begun a protest and picketed the state high court in Osogbo, from physically assaulting the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo, whom they accused of abuse of office and high-handedness.
The protest by the court workers came amid the move by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government to suspend the Chief Judge and appoint the next most senior high court judge as acting CJ, a move that was rejected by the National Judicial Council.
