The Nigerian Governors Forum NGF, says it can only afford to pay twenty-two thousand five hundred Naira as the new national minimum wage.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Zamfara State Alhaji Abdullaziz Yari disclosed this after the Forum’s meeting in Abuja.
Alhaji Abdullaziz explained that the new minimum wage must not be done that total personnel cost does not exceed fifty percent of the revenue available to each state.
Chairman of the Governors Forum maintained that the new national minimum wage must be with ability and capability to pay.
Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Chris Ngige and Minister of Budget and National Mr Udo Udoma were also at the meeting.
The minimum wage currently stands at N18, 500 and the Nigerian Labour Congress is however demanding that the Minimum wage be increased to N30, 000.
