A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has collapsed his political structure for the candidate of the party Mr Bola Oyebamiji.
Dr Ogunbiyi dirrected his campaign coordinators and supporters across Federal Constituencies and local government areas in the state to work for the victory of Oyebamiji in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Ogunbiyi, who is the chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, gave the directive in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Saturday during an appreciation meeting with the leadership and members of his campaign organisation, Idera De Movement, drawn from the 30 local government areas in the state.
He encouraged his supporters to draw valuable lessons from the events that played out during the struggle for the APC governorship ticket and accept the decision of the party, adding that the emergence of Oyebamiji, a politician from the West Senatorial has addressed one of the demands of the District.
“First, we are very happy because I am from the West Senatorial and we want the governorship candidate to emerge from the Osun West. We are grateful to God that, that one has happened.
“As for my belief and vision to govern the state. That has become a secondary issue now that a candidate of the party has emerged. So, I have come to brief my supporters across the state that there is no more grouping. Just like all of us, aspirants, nine of us, we all agree to work for the party.

“Every one of us had a meeting and we resolved that every one of us will work. We will do everything within our respective constituencies to ensure that Bola Oyebamiji emerges as the governor of Osun State from August this year,” Ogunbiyi said.
Speaking on the efforts to rally electorate in the Iwo Federal Constituency behind the APC governorship candidate, Ogunbiyi who said voters in the three local government areas that made up the constituency are up to 170,000, stating that the “Progressives should count on Iwo. As we have always done in the past, we will still deliver for Oyebamiji and we will deliver for APC.”
Speaking on his future political ambition, the insurance expert said the next governorship election would be given priority attention, emphasising that “The most important thing is for Bola Oyebamiji to emerge as the elected governor. If that happens, by the grace of God, I, Akin Ogunbiyi, from Iwo Federal constituency, by the special grace of God and the support of our leaders, I will emerge as the Senatorial candidate of the West.”
