The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate, Francis Fadahunsi, has urged Christians to use the occasion of this year’s Easter to show the world the major lesson in the celebration of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a statement signed by Sam Segun-Progress, the Media Adviser to Fadahunsi, the Senator said Easter season came about as a result of sacrifice, tolerance and love that Jesus Christ showed to the world.
Fadahunsi, who said Jesus Christ accepted the cross and died for the salvation of mankind, to demonstrate love for the humanity, noting that Nigerians must not allow the lesson to slip by.
He further said, “Easter Celebration is the essence of Christianity and Nigerians must start demonstrating the attributes that made Jesus different.
“The road to the cross, the judgment, the burial and ascension were demonstration of greatest sacrifice.
“Christians must see sacrifice as an essential tool for fulfilling their God given goals. Once you remove sacrifice from Christian living it becomes ordinary and ungodly in nature.
“Also Easter Celebration is the essence of Christianity and we as Nigerians must start demonstrating the attributes that made Jesus different.
“We Nigerians must be ready to sacrifice for the progress of the country. We must show love and live in peace.
“We must emulate Christ. He left all to come and sacrifice for our redemption. So, as leaders, we must sacrifice too, so as to impact the lives of our people.”
He also called on government at all levels to be willing to sacrifice for the good of the ordinary citizen.
“People in government must also show love and sacrifice for the common good of less privileged Nigerians. They are looking up to us and we must live up to that expectations.
“We urge Nigerians to sacrifice for the country fo grow. People in government must also be ready to sacrifice a lot for the led to live a good life,” Fadahunsi said.
