Osun State Command has disclosed that it had deployed 1520 personnel to strategic places across the state to provide security of lives and property during this year’s Easter celebration.
A statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke on Wednesday, noted that the state Commandant, Michael Adaralewa Ph.D. has tasked Area Commanders and Divisional officers in all local governments and area commands to deploy effective operational teams for constant patrol of every nook and cranny of the state.
The statement noted that there would be no room for criminal-minded people to distraught the peace of residents of the state before, during and after the celebration.
According to the statement, “A total number of 1,520 personnel have been deployed for covert and overt operation. The team comprised the State Command Tactical Teams such as Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Special Armed Squad, Female Armed Squad, Disaster Management Unit and Chemical, Biological, Radiological Nuclear and Explosive Unit. In addition to providing security for citizens and residents of the state, the deployed teams would also protect critical national assets in the state.
“Officers shall be deployed to public places, worship centres, recreation centres, shopping malls, identified criminal’s hideouts and would discharge their duties with respect to fundamental human rights.”
The State Commandant while enjoining the personnel to work in synergy with other sister agencies for a hitch-free celebration, said the security of people is very sacrosanct, adding that personnel of the Command must be on their toes to protect the lives and property of the citizens at all times.
Adaralewa urged members of the public to celebrate within the confines of the law, be watchful, imbibe the culture of moderation during this period and report suspicious movements and persons to the nearest security agency for immediate action.
He urged those travelling for the celebration to avoid overspeeding and night travels.
