The Osun state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on Thursday presented the staff of office to the installed Oba, Moses Oladejo Oyediran despite protest from the youths in the town.
The 93-year Old Oyediran was installed on December 27 2018 after the demise of the in August 8 2018 Francis Adedoyin at the age of 96.
The protesting youth believed he was aged, saying they wouldn’t mind if he stepped down for one of his sons.
Speaking during the official presentation of Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the newly-appointed Ogunsua, Oyetola stated that his administration recognises the important roles traditional rulers play in the society.
He explained that traditional institution represents the symbol of Yoruba men and women stressing that royal fathers in the region serves as the rallying point as well as custodians of our great tradition and culture.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji said Government would continue to ensure that the traditional institution in the state is accorded high value and ensure that the revered traditional rulers are given their pride of place.
Oyetola however urged the traditional rulers to continue to play their roles as fathers of all and continue to partner with Government in its quest to bring development to every part of the State.
He also charged the newly-installed Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Moses Oladejo Oyediran, to support the efforts of government in the maintenance of peace, security, law and order in the community,
Governor Oyetola also acknowledged that the stool of Ogunsua of Modakeke is one of the few stools in the State which do not attract rancour and acrimony whenever it is to be filled as ascension to the stool is by promotion.
He however advised other Communities in the State to device means of evolving less strenuous succession strategies for the good of their people and the state at large.
