The management of the Federal polytechnic, Ede has refuted allegations of mismanagement and abuse of office against the rector of the institution, Dr. John Taiwo Adekolawole by the Centre for Human Rights & Social Justice.
In a statement signed by the institution Protocol, Public Relations Officer, Sola Lawal , the management accused the group of being used by few defiant characters in the institution to maligned the personality of the Rector and his family without any cause.
The management said the rector followed due process in the employment of the rector’s son, adding that a lecturer in the institution, who plagiarised had been interdicted by the management pending the time the Council will sit and take final decision on the report of the Investigative Committee.
The statement reads, “The purported publication was a figment of the imagination of the author. The alleged maligned of the Rector by these few dissidents was based on personal avarice and an attempt to smear the good image of our highly revered citadel of learning.
” It is pertinent to inform the general public that all the allegations leveled against the Rector and his family have been addressed in our first rejoinder, which centered on Employment of Rector’s Son, Mrs. Kemi Adekolawole’s promotion, retreats by the former Governing Council Members, all issues that followed due process.
We wish to strongly refute this allegation and provide necessary clarification on the issue.
“An external assessor reported that an officer plagiarized his submission in the 2018 promotion exercise from Lecturer 1 to Senior Lecturer. After the discovery, the council stepped down his promotion and directed investigation. The investigative Committee gave him a fair hearing and after the conclusion of the investigation, it was revealed that three of his journals were 100% plagiarized.
“The recommendation of the Committee was sent to the Management enroute the council and it was at that point the officer started blackmailling the management hence the Management decided to interdict him, pending the time the Council will sit and take final decision on the report of the Investigative Committee. It is pertinent to note that the same officer allied with Centre for Human Rights & Social Justice to maligned the personality of the Rector and his family without any cause than based on avarice.
“Members of the public are hereby advised to ignore all the ignominious posts and other publication that may emerged in future on the issues. The Management will make available to the public final decision on the said plagiarism in know distance future.”
