PRESS STATEMENT
The Akirun-In- Council of Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government of Osun State wishes to express our profound gratitudes to the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola and all other members of His cabinet having graciously confirmed and approved the appointment of the next Monarch to fill in the exalted vacant stool of Akirun of Ikirun.
It would be recalled that the stool became vacant as a result of the demise of the late Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji on the 3rd day of February 2021 which then threw the stool vacant.
It’s worthy of note that the race for the throne became fiercely competitive and was keenly contested among the eligible Royal bloods before the Noble Kingmakers, the only body of wisemen who has the statutory roles in selection process of new King divinely selected Oba Yunus Olamilekan Akadiri (OYEWOLE IV) as the next Akirun of Ikirun among over 22 princes who were jostling for the throne.
It’s for this reasons and others that we are expressing our immense gratitudes to the Governor of Osun whose fatherly and impartial role added much needed value to the transparency and fair selection of the process.
We therefore use this opportunity to appeal to all those peopel who are still nursing grievances over the long time concluded selection process which held on November 19, 2021 to give peace a chance in Ikirun and find the soft part in their hearts to join hand with the Palace in moving our great town, Ikirun Agunbe, forward.
While we concede that It’s not abnormal to be aggrieved where a particular expectation failed to materialize to one’s favour, we however consider resort to self-help as a means of settling scores very much avoidable and abhorrent. It is on that note we call for promotion of calmness, harmony and tranquility such that the wise and industrious people are reputed for.
It’s our fervent hope and prayers to Almighty Allah that the reigns of His Royal Majesty, Oba Yunus Olamilekan Akadiri (Oyewole IV) be long, remarkable and prosperous for the entire good people of ikirun.
On a final note, the Akirun-In-Council further hereby expresses much and deep rooted appreciation of the good people all over the world including Royal Fathers in the state and environs particularly entire good people of Ikirun for their continued support, prayers and real concerns during the trying moment. May Allaah continue to give us wisdom, power and knowledge to necessary to continue earn people’s confidence and prayers.
