The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has said the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has done enough to earn another term in office.
Oyewumi, who is the lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate, spoke on Saturday in Ikire, Osun State, while recieving members of the All Progressives Congress from Irewole local government area, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to him, those that dumped APC took the decision to join PDP, having observed various achievements of Adeleke in less than two years of him being in government.
He said more people would join the ruling party in the state from other local government areas in Osun West, thus making brighter the chances of the incumbent governor in the 2026 governorship election.
“The defectors are from Irewole Local Government. People have tasted PDP and APC so you don’t need to campaign. People can judge the two and take the one that suits their purpose. This is Ikire and it cuts across all eleven wards.

“People you see here are grassroot mobilisers. The Oluode of this town is present here. He is also the deputy chairman of all the hunters in the state. He has more than 2000 people behind him.
“Adeleke has campaigned for himself. He has not spent two years in office. In Ikire alone, he has tarred almost 5 kilometers of road. He has completed two, he is working on one that is almost 60% complete. He has completed about three secondary schools and about five primary schools. He has also renovated about seven maternity centers.
“All our wards in Ikire has at least two boreholes from him apart from other non physical thing like outreach on health. You know things on health are very critical. We are not ingrates. People of Irewole can see. I trust my people,they are ready to pay him back with three times votes of what we did last time,” Oyewumi said.
Earlier, Osun PDP chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, commended the defectors on their decisions to join the ruling party in the state, and stated the readiness to support them to enjoy the benefits of being members of the party.
