The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, on Wednesday, paraded two persons for allegedly tampering with electric fittings.
The suspects, AbdulFatia AbdulLateef (29) and Adesina Opeyemi (31), according to NSCDC State Commandant, Sunday Agboola, bypassed electricity meter with a view to power their pumping machine at no cost.
Agboola noted suspects were arrested at about 19:00 hours on Monday, 21st August 2023, at Akede area, Oke Baale, Osogbo by the joint operation of the NSCDC and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
Speaking with newsmen, one of the suspects, AbdulLateef said they decided to bypassed their meter due to the economic situation of the country.
According to him,”We bypass the electricity to pump water. The money we spend on buying electricity cards is too much, that is why we thought we should bypass it to save cost.
“We do buy card but the situation of things in the country made us bypass it. We bypassed on Sunday and we were caught on Monday.
“Had it been we knew that we would find ourselves in this situation, we would not have bypassed at all. I want to urge those who are bypassing to stop it. It is better not to use electricity than to face what we are facing here.”
Also, a 23 year, Abiodun Akinloye was paraded for allegedly encroaching Segilola mining site and committing public disturbance.
Agboola said the suspects will be charge to court after investigations.
