A group, Ife/Ijesa Peoples Front (IPF), has told Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun state chapter, to consider only the candidate with capacity to win the next Senatorial election for for the district, and give the ticket of the party to such an individual.
The IPF noted that, if in 2015, Prince Francis Adenigba Fadahunshi was robbed and the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) that was declared winner by the court, after a meagre 800 votes were awarded to Babajide Omoworare, despite the influence of then presidential candidate of the party, Mohammadu Buhari on the votes polled by candidates contesting on the platform of APC, now that the stock of the PDP had risen, the ex Customs boss remains the best the party could field.
According, to a statement signed by the chairman, Adedunmola Isreal and secretary of the group, Adetoye Gbadebo, Fadahunshi has rich history of philantrophy and has cult-like following across the state, especially in Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District.
The group averred that Fadahunshi’s acceptance by the religious leaders, artisans and student bodies and royal fathers has lesser the burden of PDP.
The statement reads: “Fadahunshi will win if given the ticket by PDP. We have been in the cold in the last 8 years. We have good chance of getting Osun back to power through Osun East Senatorial, if we field our best man.
“In 2015, despite the blind love showed to Buhari, which aided the victory of many underperforming political office holders seeking another term on the platform of APC, Prince Ade Fadahunshi still, as far as most people in Osun East are concerned, conveniently won 2015 Senatorial District election.
“Though, through manipulations and connivance, his victory was stolen and handed to Babajide Owoworare of APC, but people with fair conscience, knew Fadahunshi won that poll.
“Now that vigor is returning to PDP after years of funding the party by Fadahunshi and many like him, we must not make the mistake of fielding any other person, but the man we know has the capacity to win for us.
“If this ex Customs officer could achieve all he parades in his credentials, impacting on lives and providing means of livelihood for people as a private citizen of the country, if allowed to get to public office, he will surely do more.”
