A corpse that was recovered from River Osun has been identified as that of a Vehicle Inspection Officer who had been declared missing days before .
The body was found floating on River Osun on Wednesday , and it has been buried at the bank of the same river where his body was recovered .
Sources in the area confirmed to our correspondent that some local divers recovered the body late Thursday and it was buried at the bank of the river in line with the tradition .
Residents of Osunjela Town told our correspondent that the deceased was a Vehicle Inspection Officer who was declared missing several days before his corpse was found floating on Wednesday .
A resident of the area, who identified himself a Olalolu Gbadamonsi, said shortly before the arrival of men of Osun State Fire Service , the body was recovered from the river and buried at the river bank.
He added , “ From where we watched while the burial rites were performed , the traditionalists buried the man . We can ’ t say if family members of the deceased were present.
“ But the man worked with Osun Vehicle Inspection Office . He was definitely not on duty when he met his death. The clothes that were found on the river bank when the body was recovered were not a uniform. ”
A staff officer of Osun Fire Service , Ibrahim Adekunle , who confirmed to our correspondent that the deceased had been buried , said , “ Before our men arrived at the scene, the body had been buried at the river bank. ”
When contacted, Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer for Osun State , Mr . Ademola Alli , said he did not have any information about the deceased.
