A member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Adewale Oladipo, has said the people of Ile-Ife, Osun would vote massively for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 08, gubernatorial election, noting that the governor has done a lot for the ancient city.
The former National Secretary of PDP who spoke on Monday during an on-the-spot assessment of road projects in Ile-Ife, said the current infrastructure upgrade in the ancient city was unprecedented.
Prof. Oladipo who is the chairman of the Imole Campaign Council in Osun State, said the ongoing construction of the flyover in Ile-Ife would further link the city to other towns, adding that the impact of the present administration has been felt by all the settlements in Ile-Ife.
According to him, “We cannot thank Governor Ademola Adeleke enough. Actually, when the idea of constructing that flyover was mooted by the governor, a few people were sceptical because, you know, it is a novel idea in the history of this ancient city. If you delve back into history, a thousand years ago, Ile-Ife was one of the five major cities in the whole world but it has become what it became due to rapid urbanisation in other areas of the country and especially other parts of Yoruba land. Most of these towns were founded by people who left Ife, in any case.

“Sincerely, you cannot quantify the impact of that particular monument to history that Governor Adeleke had decided to construct in Ile-Ife. We are so grateful. The Ooni and his council are enormously happy about this.
“This is not just for Ile-Ife. You will see that the location is so central to Ife land. If you are coming from Ifetedo, Garage Olode, Ipetumudu, Modakeke, Moore, Ilode, Ilare and Sabo, that place is so central.
“As far as Ife is concerned, and I can say this authoritatively that from Ifetedo to Garage Olode, Okerewe, Modakeke, Iremo, Ilode, Ilare, Moore, Ipetumodu, Moro, Eduabon, this man has touched everywhere. So, we are very grateful to this government. We have never had it so good and I can assure you, we will reciprocate it with our voter’s card.”
