Nigeria’sHealth Minister, Professor Isaac Adewole has urged Nigerians not to repeat what happened during the last gubernatorial election in Osun state to repeat utself during 2019 elections.
Adewole gave this advise while addressing thousands of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) members at a one-day summit organised by Buhari/Osinbajo South West support groups held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Monday.
Adewole said that it was annoying that no fewer that 47,000 votes were cancelled in the last gubernatorial election in Osun State because of double thumb printing and double voting.

At the summit tagged “2019 elections summit” held at the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan were the Director General of Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation (South West), Chief Olusola Oke, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State who was represented by his Executive Asistant (Political Matters), Dr. Morounkola Thomas, APC Zonal Sectary (South West)), Mr Ayo Afolabi and other APC leaders and supporters from the six states in the region.
The minister tutored the audiebce that they should wait for some minutes after they had cast their votes before they fold the ballot papers adding that, folding the ballot papers without allowing the ink to dry may allow the ink to split over to another box which may lead to double voting.
He said that to avoid what happened in Osun last year during its gubernatorial election, all voters must be patient enough and ensure that the ink in the box where they cast their votes dry.
Adewole while insisting that voters should look carefully to ascertain that they cast their votes in the required boxes of their favorites political parties, advised them to use index finger to cast their votes.
He said “Don’t repeat what happened in Osun state last year to happen. You will recall that 47, 000 votes were cancelled during the last election in Osun state.
“When you vote, wait for some minutes, let the ink dry before you fold it if you must fold it.
‘It is worrisome that 47,000 votes were cancelled in Osun state last year. You can see the margin. It is too much.
“On Saturday, use your index finger, this finger, it is called “Ika Ilabe”. It is used to draw soup while you are eating. We will use it to draw soup. Use your index finger to cast your votes.
“We have benefited enough from this government. South West has benefited from Buhari government. Apart from the fact that we have the Vice President, we must not allow any other zones to take it away from us. We have some ministers that have not been given to the South West since independence”.
Oke in his welcome address urged Nigerians to beware of PDP antics to take them back to the dark days.
Oke said, “PDP has come with its usual decit. Nigerians should beware of their antics. They have come with lies that Buhari will islamise Nigeria. That is a lie.
“This is the reason why we are here to endorse Buhari for another term in the office. He has performed well and they, he and Osinbajo deserved another four years in the office. Is it in the areas of NPower, Railway, education or what? Buhari has performed well”, Oke declared.
